For over 20 years Christine L. Mendoza has worked in film, education and community development both in NYC and around the world. She is a Latina, Native New Yorker and an all-around badass (uninfluenced, carves her own life path, etc, etc), connected professional, working towards the advancement of women and people of color. At the age of 17 and 18, Christine produced two award-winning social justice films that were included in Film Festivals around the world. Since then, she has published multiple articles and book chapters in her field and has worked teaching film at institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art, The Educational Video Center, NYU and Columbia University. She has also worked internationally using film as an educational tool in Finland, India, Iran, Northern Ireland, Bolivia, Peru and South Africa. Christine spent two years working in the Spanish education system in Malaga, Spain where she taught English using visual media as a facilitation tool. Christine has two published book chapters focused on teaching youth media around the world.

 

Christine received her MA from the Comparative Ethnic Conflict Program at Queens University Belfast, QUB, (QUB is in the top one percentile of universities in the world and a member of the Russell Group) in Northern Ireland and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Media Studies from Hunter College in NYC. Christine is currently a Technology Ambassador for the United States Government, a newly re-elected board member of the UNESCO Founded organization, The International Center of Films for Children and Young People, (CIFEJ), A Board Member of the Educational Video Center, A Contemporary Collector Member for the Museo de Barrio and a Leadership Fellow at the Youth Development Institute in NYC. She led the Education Department for the prestigious Film at Lincoln Center, which runs the New York Film Festival and New Directors, New Films and is authoring her first book on Youth Media. Christine L Mendoza is the former Executive Director of the Urbanworld Foundation Film Festival and is the founder and Chief Executive Director of Christine L Mendoza, INC, a consultancy and Educational company where she uses her lived experience to design, fund and lead programs for people from historically oppressed communities to thrive. She resides in her querido New York.
